Pea Pods connects families in Pagosa Springs, Durango, Cortez, and surrounding areas with experienced caregivers who come to your home, hotel, or vacation rental. Care is booked by the hour with minimums that help ensure meaningful, unhurried time with your child.
Our Process
Step 1: You submit a brief request form with your dates, times, location, and children’s ages.
Step 2: We confirm availability and match you with a caregiver who fits your needs.
Step 3: Your caregiver arrives at your home or rental with a plan for age‑appropriate activities and routines.

Local family care is designed for families in Pagosa Springs, Durango, and nearby areas who need regular or occasional support while keeping the child in their own environment.
Our visitor and vacation care is created for families traveling to Pagosa Springs or Durango who want both family time and space for adult time. We come to popular lodging areas in and around town, including hotels, resorts, and vacation rentals.
Pea Pods sitters are dedicated to providing enriching experiences for your children. We encourage education and outdoor adventures through creative play and hands-on learning.
Our talented and experienced nannies are available on an hourly, daily, and weekly basis. Pea Pods will care for children ages 0 to 12.
All of our nannies and sitters are over 18 years of age, have undergone extensive background checks, drug testing, and childcare certification courses, and hold current CPR & First Aid certification.

Your child’s schedule, comfort items, and any special instructions are just as important to us! We will ask you detailed questions prior to your scheduled childcare.
We will ask questions about preferred activities and boundaries during care (activities, snacks, bedtime) to uphold your family’s routine and values.

Frequently Asked Childcare Questions
Are your sitters legal to work in the U.S.?
Yes! Our sitters are all Colorado residents and have family, school, employment, and friendship ties to this wonderful place. All have graduated from high school or are attending colleges locally. We have numerous sitters with associate’s and bachelor’s degrees, or working toward degrees in the Early Childhood Education field.
Can I stay at any resort, hotel or vacation location and hire Pea Pods Sitter agency?
Yes. No resorts or hotels have the authority to dictate who their guests or families use to provide care to their children. That is your choice.
Do your sitters have backgrounds in childcare?
Our sitters must have experience working with children. All of our sitters have backgrounds in preschools, day-cares, at-home child care, or elementary schools. Many of our sitters have experience working with children with special needs as well.
What are the ages of your sitters?
All of our sitters are over 18 and have been interviewed by the owner to ensure they are outgoing, energetic, and capable of providing care to all our families.
Our Childcare Rates
Our rates are based on a per-family structure.
SINGLE FAMILY RATES* (PER FAMILY):
One Child: $23/ Hour
Two Children: $25/ Hour
Three Children: $27/ Hour
Four Children: $50/ Hour
*Four Hour Minimum Charge for Each Sitting
MULTI-FAMILY RATES** (PER FAMILY):
Families can share a sitter with a lower hourly rate being charged to each family. Limit of four (4) children per sitter may apply.
One Child, Each Family – $22.00/ Hour per family
Two Children, Each Family – $24.00/ Hour per family
**If it is determined during the sitting assignment that it is a multi-family situation, the sitter will charge each family according to the multi-family rates.
PLEASE LET THE AGENCY KNOW IF YOU WILL BE TRAVELING WITH PETS. Some sitters have dog and/or cat allergies.
Additional Fees That May Apply
+$10.00 per hour fee added for sick and Special Needs children. Special needs are children who have ADD, ADHD, bipolar, Autism, etc. Sick children who are on antibiotics, have fevers, colds (runny nose, cough, and/or sneezing).
+$10.00 per hour fee added for the following holidays: Martin Luther King, Valentine’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Mother’s Day, Memorial Weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, & Monday), Father’s Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day Weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday), Thanksgiving Weekend (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), December 26th and 27th and January 2nd and 3rd.
+$20.00 per hour for Christmas and New Year’s holidays: December 24th and 25th, and December 31st and January 1st. Families can share a sitter for $10.00 per hour/per
family rate discount.
For Major Holidays, our hourly rate is increased by 50%.
Cancellation & Reschedule Policy
Pea Pods will happily work with your family in the event of cancellations & rescheduling requests; however, all cancellations require a 24-hour advance notice.
Cancellations made with 24 hours’ notice will be refunded in full, excluding the $25 booking fee. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ advance notice will not receive a refund of the 4-hour minimum deposit.
